Growing up in Denmark with exposure to the rest of old Europe, I was always surrounded by buildings that emitted old craftsmanship and a certain timeless quality and beauty. During that time, I was able to establish a good foundation for adding European qualities to houses on this continent, and mixing that with existing traditions.

My first hands-on experience with this timeless quality came through lime washing the exterior of my grandparent’s farm as a child. We did that every year as it had been since it was built, and still is. My dear grandparents still live there in their natural house, not even knowing that there is such a term.

Over the past 20 years I have worked on castles, manors, temples, cathedrals, and the very cream of modern day construction. It has been a true pleasure  working with the phenomenal European, North American and Caribbean architects, designers and builders involved in the projects, and they keep coming back for more.

For years I have taught Workshops, trained crews, performed trouble shootings, and been featured in instruction and tutorial videos and home shows, working with the best plaster manufacturers in the industry.

Hansen Handcrafted Finishes is based in Durango Colorado, and operates mainly here, in Telluride and Colorado's other mountain communities. We do however, also work throughout the rest of the US, Europe and other countries.
