A winding stair case plastered with Italian lime plasters. We just finished a plaster job in Telluride, Co, and now I am in the passenger seat writing this blog post as we are heading to Denver to meet with a costumer to help finalize some decisions on decorative finishes. Our costumer wanted American clay, Italian lime plaster and some faux finish, the faux was eliminated after we showed her some beautiful lime paint samples when she visited our showroom in Durango. After this we went to visit one of our job sites to show her the winding staircase that I am going to show you here.
This home is nestled in the hills just outside Durango, Colorado and packed with beautiful architectural details. We used a number of different decorative finishes one of which was lime plaster on the stair case.

We started from bare studs, lathed the whole thing, applied base coats and finished with Italian lime plasters and wax. Starting with lath and plaster gave us a great opportunity to give the staircase the look and feel of a plastered masonry staircase, with the light falling on the the walls casting shadows on any unevenness. The project was fun and demanded our undivided attention due to the large amount of detail, all our special tools were in use and new ones were made. The home owner got himself a new pet, here are a few pictures from my camera and as soon as my photographer comes through there you will be able to see more on our portfolio page.
Please check in again to follow what we are up to.
